TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH is cooperating with Dortmund-based VERISCO GmbH. The company specialises in the testing and verification of communication systems of electric vehicles and charging stations. In future, VERISCO and TÜV SÜD Product Service will provide conformity and interoperability tests for charging interfaces according to CCS (Combined Charging System, including DIN 70121 & ISO 15118).
In the course of the cooperation between TÜV SÜD and VERISCO, full and complete conformity tests according to the future test standards of DIN 70122 and ISO 15118-4 and -5 (including Plug & Charge) will be introduced and established on the market. “Cooperation with VERISCO will allow us to offer international certification of conformity with the relevant CCS standards through our global TÜV SÜD network”, says Andreas Bärwald, Head of Smart Technologies at TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH. “Our cooperation with TÜV SÜD will enable customers preparing for certification of their products to benefit from an efficient and effective test process based on our portfolio of products and services”, add Sven Gröning and Jens Schmutzler, co-founders and managing directors of VERISCO GmbH.
Interoperability – crucial for electromobility
Interoperability between electric vehicles and charging infrastructures is an essential basic requirement for a growing electromobility market. The charging interface according to the Combined Charging System (CCS) plays a critical role in this context. Given the large number of applications and the resulting technical complexity, interoperability of the charging stations is a major challenge. Conformity with the relevant standards is one of the key criteria for interoperability between electric vehicles and charging infrastructures, and will be critical for the market success of CCS. During charging, the charging infrastructure exchanges information with the vehicle on control, authentication and, if applicable, billing of the charging process. Future application scenarios address issues such as grid-friendly charging, charging management for large vehicle fleets, high-power charging and charging of electric buses in public transport. At the same time, a safe and convenient charging process must be ensured for customers at all times.
