TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH has been granted initial accreditation by ASME, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. This accreditation entitles the company to supply all certification of pressure equipment and pressure-retaining components for the European and US markets from a single source, based on its 25-plus years of experience with the ASME Code.
The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (ASME Code) is the global leading standard governing the design, manufacture and inspection of conventional and nuclear pressure equipment and pressure-retaining components. Components manufactured in compliance with the ASME Code are approved for use in the USA and Canada as well as over 100 further countries. After gaining ASME certification, manufacturers of these components can thus launch their products on global markets. “The success of our application for ASME accreditation now allows us to supply our customers with all services in this field from a single source”, says Angelika Stangl, Head of CoC ASME at TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH. These services include support in establishing a quality assurance system in compliance with the ASME Code, preparation of ASME certification audits, production monitoring, validation of calculations in line with the ASME Code, and approval of components.
The new accreditation granted to TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH complements previous activities within the TÜV SÜD Group related to the ASME Code. “TÜV SÜD has had a roster of Authorized Inspectors (AI) for 25 years, operating worldwide from Germany to the USA and from China to India”, explains Angelika Stangl. Authorisation of these inspectors had previously been conducted by ARISE BIIC, a US subsidiary of TÜV SÜD. However, the new ASME accreditation now represents a more efficient way for TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH to support manufacturers, primarily German and European manufacturers of conventional pressure equipment, steam boilers, heating boilers, piping systems, fibre-reinforced plastic vessels, tankers and nuclear components.
