Certification of refrigeration systems by a Notified Body
Under the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), 2014/68/EU, refrigeration systems are classified as “assemblies”. A manufacturer of an assembly is defined as any natural or legal person who assembles individual pieces of pressure equipment and piping in a refrigerant circuit. In many cases a Notified Body, such as TÜV SÜD, needs to be consulted before a manufacturer can place a refrigeration system on the market.
Irrespective of this requirement, before refrigeration systems can go into operation they must undergo testing at their location of installation to confirm compliance with the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV).
Our experts in refrigeration and air-conditioning technology support you in placing your products on the market in accordance with applicable EU Directives. The following information is designed to help you determine whether to involve a Notified Body before placing your refrigeration systems on the market.
