How does TÜV SÜD Rail stand out from other employers?
Firstly, it is a testing and appraiser organisation, so that it is clearly differentiated in terms of substance already from other employers. I have come into contact with different applications on a daily basis due to the great project diversity. We are basically not focused on one single project but cover a broad range of topics for international customers.
I also find it extraordinary that a lot of confidence is placed in the employees and everyone can schedule their working time flexibly.
What is the course of a typical day like?
Here, it must be differentiated fundamentally once more between the tasks at the customer’s site and work in the office. When I am at the customer’s site, I carry out tests for example but also process audits. At the office, it is then about completing the report and writing the expert opinions. The professional exchange with my colleagues is also very important to me and I participate in discussions of expert groups.
Which concrete area of application is your responsibility?
I come from the software development field, but also necessarily deal with electronics. I have concentrated specifically on control and automation systems in industry and the rail sector. At the same time, I’m a project manager for Siemens input and output assemblies and a technical certifier.
In addition, I am the responsible point of contact for training offered in the rail automation division in the field of functional safety.
You have worked for TÜV SÜD Group previously already, haven’t you? Is this why you already had points of contact with this area?
I have also worked in the safety segment for many years at TÜV SÜD Industry Service and occasionally had contact with colleagues at other TÜV companies. I have never been bored at TÜV SÜD and used the offered opportunities to get advanced training, and enjoyed learning how to work on new tasks. This is also why I was excited about the challenge of changing to TÜV SÜD Rail. I’m a master of the craft when it comes to implementing customer projects, but I have never dealt with rail engineering before and had to familiarise with the new area of application at first.
