TÜV SÜD Battery Testing GmbH has received accreditation as a CB test laboratory (CBTL) from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IECEE). As a result, the TÜV SÜD Group now operates one of the few battery test laboratories in Europe to hold CBTL accreditation. The CB Scheme is a multilateral agreement which smooths the path of electrical and electronic products in obtaining international market approval.
Products can be submitted for global market approval more easily when they have been tested under the CB Scheme for compliance with harmonised standards and awarded an internationally recognised CB Report. In this context, the testing expertise provided by TÜV SÜD Battery Testing spans the testing of primary and secondary batteries for use in portable applications and of their transport safety in accordance with the international IEC 62133:2012 and IEC 62281:2012 standards (equivalent to the UN-ECE standard 38.3). The scope of application for these cells and batteries, which are principally based on lithium technology, includes mobile products like tools and household appliances, but also extends to laboratory equipment and medical devices. In addition to conducting conformity testing under the CB Scheme and the production of CB Reports, TÜV SÜD Battery Testing GmbH also provides endurance, performance, environmental and abuse testing services.
Global network that opens up global markets
In addition to the TÜV SÜD Battery Testing laboratory in Garching, the TÜV SÜD Group operates a network of battery testing laboratories in the USA, Germany, China and Singapore. Its two locations in Singapore (SGP) and Shenzhen (CHN) already hold CBTL accreditation. With this global representation and expertise in the field of battery testing, TÜV SÜD’s experts can supply rapid, efficient support to their customers in gaining approval for their products on international markets.
