The checklist for your bike

1. General information
Do you have your vehicle registration certificate or registration certificate, part I, to hand along with any other documents such as a tire approval or general operating permit?
Is the factory plate (type plate) in place and clearly legible?
Does the vehicle identification number (chassis number) on the vehicle match the number in the papers, and is it clearly legible?
Are the rear-view mirrors intact and securely attached?
Do the steering lock and speedometer function?
Is the registration plate clearly legible, undamaged and securely attached?
2. Lighting and electrical equipment
Are the light housings and reflectors undamaged?
Are all lights and warning lamps functioning?
Are the reflectors of the headlights in order and not corroded?
Do all lights shine brightly, with even intensity and without flickering?
Are the brake light switches set correctly?
Is the battery in good condition and adequately attached?
Is the horn functioning?
Are the electrical connections secure and not corroded?
Have the electrical cables been routed without chafing points and are they undamaged?
Have the spark plugs and spark plug connectors prescribed in the vehicle documents been fitted?
Does the steering move freely, easily and without sticking points?
Is the handlebar securely attached and undamaged?
Are the handlebar grips secure?
Are the components of the brake system in order (levers, lines, hoses, linkages, linings/pads, disks and drums)?
Is the brake fluid still fresh and is the brake fluid level correct?
Is the brake system free from leaks and has it been bled?
Do the brakes move freely?
Is there still reserve travel in the lever and pedal travel?
5. Wheels and tires
Is the tread depth of the tires in order (prescribed minimum tread depth 1.6 mm - on light motorcycles 1.0 mm)?
Do the tire size and tire designation match the information in the vehicle papers - or is the tire pairing approved and have you got documentation confirming this?
Is the specified rolling direction of the tires correct?

Are the tires undamaged, e.g. without dents, cuts or cracks?
Are the wheel axles attached and secure?
6. Powertrain, chassis, frame and add-ons
Are all bolts firm and have they been secured, if there is provision for this?
Are the chain, pinion and sprocket in good condition?
Is the chain correctly tensioned and adequately lubricated?
Is the running direction of the chain correct if a chain lock is used?
Is the chain guard in place?
Are the suspension struts and steering tubes free from leaks?
Are the side stand and main stand secure in the riding position?
Is the fuel tank securely attached and undamaged?
Are the fuel hoses free from leaks and have they been routed without chafing?
Are the engine and gearbox free from leaks?
Are the fairing and fairing screen undamaged and is the edge protection in place?
Is the seat correctly attached?
Are the foot rests in order?
Are the foot rests in order?
7. Exhaust system and noise levels
Is the exhaust system free from leaks and correctly attached?
Is the motorcycle noticeably too loud?
