About the conference
Liquefied gases are used in a wide range of applications in many industrial sectors. The increasing demand for refrigerated liquefied gases requires the use of suitable storage facilities. Compliance with various technical and legal requirements during design, construction and operation of such facilities is necessary for safe operation of cryogenic storage tanks.
Therefore, TÜV SÜD organizes the conference Cryogenic Storage Tanks in Munich, Germany.
The main conference topics
Current international tank standards, safety concepts, tank design criteria and operational experiences. Additionally, certain aspects of geotechnical investigations and foundation design for cryogenic tanks will be part of the discussions.
The conference language will be English.
For the second time, experts in the field of cryogenic storage tanks came together at TÜV SÜD in Munich. 115 participants from 17 nations took part in the conference to be informed of the latest insights on using cryogenic storage tanks.
Not only the growing need for storage possibilities for liquefied gases but also the safe preservation of existing installations induced TÜV SÜD to arrange this conference series. After a one-day pilot in 2016, this year’s conference featured the following topics over a period of 2 days:
- What are the international laws and standards regarding set-up and Operation?
- How are risks evaluated?
- How can site-specific conditions such as earthquake effetcs be determined?
- How can inspection intervals be determined according to a risk assessment?
- Which damaging events have to be considered for the storage, i.e. of ammoniac?
The lively and intensive debate in the course of the conference showed the importance of current and future exchange on the various aspects in the use of cryogenic storage tanks.
Together with the program committee, TÜV SÜD is very pleased with the outcome of this successful conference!
