“No data, no market“
Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Ristriction of Chemicals" - REACH made easy
On 1 June 2007, the EU's new chemicals regulation REACH came into force and fundamentally changed European legislation in this sector. Chemicals must now be registered within certain deadlines with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). After expiry of the registration deadlines, unregistered chemicals and mixtures (formerly called “preparations”) including such substances will be prohibited in the EU. In addition to chemicals producers, importers and downstream users of chemicals and chemical mixtures will also be directly affected for the first time.
The principle of REACH, "No data, no market", may seem alarming. Additionally, comprehensive obligations governing the provision of information along the supply chain and to ECHA are gradually coming into effect. Safety data sheets must be changed gradually.
