Certification of biofuels and other bioliquids

Biofuels and other bioliquids offer high potential for contributing to climate protection, promoting sustainable development and guaranteeing the security of supply by emitting lower levels of greenhouse gases. Their use is an integral element of the European Climate Change Strategy, which provides for the crediting towards EU biofuel targets. However, crediting will only apply to those fuels which contribute to climate
protection, protect biodiversity and have been sustainably produced. Applicants must have these facts certified by an impartial third party. In some countries, biofuels are also eligible for tax breaks.
