Recording and processing of personal data
Generally, your personal data is not required for visiting the TÜV SÜD websites.
Only personal data that you have entered voluntarily, e.g. within the scope of a registration, a survey or contract conclusion will be recorded.
Use, disclosure, and earmarking of personal data
All personal data gathered within the scope of direct TÜV SÜD Internet services will only be recorded, processed and used in accordance with the valid data-protection regulations and for the purposes of contract processing or safeguarding legitimate own business interests relating to consulting services and support provided to our customers and prospects.
Right to information and public register of notifications
As prescribed by applicable law, we will inform you in writing, upon request, about whether and which of your personal data we have filed. Information in line with Article 4e of the German Data Protection Act (BDSG) has been summarized in our public register of notifications.

TÜV SÜD takes technical and organizational measures to protect any data you have made available to TÜV SÜD from incidental or wilful manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorized third parties. This applies as well, when external services are used. Our security measures are continuously enhanced in line with technical advances.
Cookies and website tracking
On this website we use systems to measure and analyse information with respect to visits to our website. To that effect we use your IP address to collect, among other things, the traffic on our web site and data regarding your browser type and computer.
In addition cookies are used. A cookie is a small file that is stored on your computer when you visit a website. If you visit the website again, it is recognized as a repeat visit by means of the cookie. The cookie contains and where applicable a date and therefore no personal data. The cookie cannot be used to identify you on websites of third parties, including the sites of the analysis providers.
It is possible to configure your web browser to refuse cookies or to be informed if a cookie is set. Please refer to the manual of your web browser.
We will not use the IP addresses or cookies to identify you personally.
We use this services in order to increase the efficiency of our websites and our marketing.
Apps
Some of our services can be used with end devices like smartphones or iPads under iOS. To some extent content is loaded from other sources (mostly due to timeliness of data like the TÜV SÜD Privacy Statement or the list of Service Centers of TÜV SÜD, content from Wikipedia or geographical material from providers).
Generally functions are performed on the device. Partly we invoke functions on TÜV SÜD servers (e.g. due to performance reasons on tuev-sued.de in order to find to a given geographical location the next service centers). If we do so, we drop the processed data after returning the result to the end device.
In general we process personal data only, if it is necessary for the purpose of the app or if you have given your explicit consent. We do not pass on data to third parties, but reserve a statistical analysis of anonymous data.
We use GEO data for localisation (e.g. your position if you invoke a function like “… find the next service centre”). We do not combine your personal data with such GEO data and use it only for localisation purposes in the context of the invoked app. After the localisation we drop the GEO data. Depending on your end device, you can disable localisation services generally (for further information see the manual of the manufacturer). But, then localisation services are no longer available.
Data is stored on your end device, in encrypted form or in unencrypted form (e.g. the settings of specific on/off switches of our apps). In case of loss of your end device, a misuse by other parties cannot be excluded. We recommend to use the specific mechanisms of your end device against misuse (e.g. encryption, user lock etc.). For more information please refer to the manufacturers manual. If you pass on your end device (e.g. when selling it) we recommend to use its features to remove all personal data.
Integration of social network plug-ins
Some pages at tuev-sued.de may have social network plug-ins integrated into them (e.g. "I like" button, "Share" button). Some examples of social networks are Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. When you load a tuev-sued.de page that contains such a plug-in, your browser will set up a link to this social network. The content of the plug-in (of the button) is then provided by the servers of this social network. This means that in principle these servers can trace the page being loaded (potentially also via cookies that were installed at this social network during your visits).
If you click on the plug-in while simultaneously being logged into the social network, data can potentially be sent to this social network from your browser and assigned to your user account. You can find out what data is being sent and how the data is dealt with, by going to the Privacy Policy of the social network concerned. It will also advise you on Privacy Protection setting options. If you are not logged in, you will usually be given the option to log in or register and to create a user account.
If you want to prevent your social network from collecting data on you, you can log out from it beforehand and possibly delete existing cookies from the online service provider concerned. If you do not have a user account with a social network, then no data will be transferred.

Should you have any questions regarding the processing of your personal data, please don't hesitate to contact our Data Protection Representative directly; the latter will also be at your service should you require information or wish to file applications or complaints.
