FSP - About the Functional Safety Professional
The Functional Safety Professional is an excellent qualification for professionals that need to deal with functional safety on a per project basis. They need to meet the following criteria:
- 6 years experience in the applicable industry
- Education gives credits:Bachelor degree deduct 2 years
Masters degree deduct 3 years
Ph.D. degree deduct 4 years - Two references
- Follow a training course and successfully pass the associated exam

FSE - About the Functional Safety Expert
The Functional Safety Expert qualification is meant for those professionals who deal with functional safety on a daily basis and who have proven themselves in industry. A Functional Safety Expert also can give training courses to potential Functional Safety Professionals. The qualification criteria for Functional Safety Expert are:
- 10 years experience in the applicable industry
- Education gives credits:
Bachelor degree deduct 2 years
Masters degree deduct 3 years
Ph.D. degreededuct 4 years - To be a Functional Safety Professional
- Submits two case studies which shall demonstrate personal deep knowledge about Functional Safety in practice
- Competence in communication about Functional Safety. This can be demonstration by publications, dissertations, trainings (as coach), member in FS committees or others
