TÜV SÜD will attend Chillventa, held from 11 to 13 October in Nuremberg, advertising its extensive range of services related to refrigeration and air-conditioning technology. In addition, the international service provider will debut its new services in technical acoustics. Further focal themes at the TÜV SÜD stand will be testing for refrigeration systems and ventilator-based air-conditioning systems. (Hall 9, Stand 9-323.)
“After establishing our new refrigeration and air-conditioning technology laboratory in Olching near Munich, we have been able to thoroughly modernise our testing facilities and further expand the range of testing services on offer”, explains Andreas Klotz, Head of the Center of Competence for Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning at TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH. The Olching laboratory offers four modern double testing chambers with volumes from 125 m3 to 385 m3 and covering a temperature range from
-40°C to + 50°C. It provides testing for a wide range of systems and equipment, from air-conditioning systems and ventilation units to refrigerated display cabinets and heat pumps, taking in individual components such as heat exchangers, compressors, ventilators and fittings.
New technical acoustics laboratory
The new facility in Olching has enabled TÜV SÜD to add the field of technical acoustics to its service portfolio. The services provided by the new technical acoustics laboratory include determination of sound power levels, measurement of workplace emission sound pressure levels, laboratory-based and on-site noise measurements to customers’ specifications, and noise measurement in accordance with the Noise Emission by Outdoor Equipment Directive 2000/14/EC and associated conformity assessment procedures.
ATP testing of whole refrigerated vehicles
A further area of focus for TÜV SÜD at Chillventa will comprise testing of equipment for temperature-controlled transport of foodstuffs and pharmaceutical products and for cold chain maintenance in logistics systems. In this sector, the company provides services ranging from calibration of thermometers and temperature monitoring systems to type testing of whole refrigerated vehicles in line with the ATP agreement over overland cross-border transport of perishable foodstuffs. Two climatic chambers 23.5 metres in length and 5.50 and 4.50 metres high are available for vehicle testing. Temperatures range from -40°C to +50°C in the higher chamber and -20°C to +50°C in the lower.
The TÜV SÜD testing laboratory for refrigeration and air-conditioning technology holds accreditation from the German National Accreditation Body (DakkS) as a testing laboratory and inspection facility under DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and 17020 and is an Accredited Laboratory under EUROVENT Certita Certification.
