TÜV SÜD Industrie Service verified the carbon footprint of KAISER+KRAFT GmbH and confirmed correct carbon accounting by the mail order company.
Analysts, investors, media and clients increasingly assess companies and their products on the basis of their sustainability and their efforts in the field of environmental and climate protection. The carbon footprint is one of the key tools for documenting the status quo. On the basis of emission data, effective actions can be developed which save both emissions and costs.
TÜV SÜD Industrie Service has now verified the carbon footprint of KAISER+KRAFT GmbH (www.kaiserkraft.de) for the first time and confirmed that the company has included and correctly determined all relevant emissions. TÜV SÜD's expert further confirmed that all essential aspects of carbon accounting at the company – a mail order business for office, company and warehouse equipment and a subsidiary of the TAKKT Group – complied with the international accounting standard and were free from major errors. Given this, carbon accounting has supplied the company, with a detailed and reliable overview of all emissions necessitated by its ongoing business operations.
Corporate Carbon Footprint: the greenhouse gas emissions of a company
KAISER+KRAFT recorded and quantified the total of all greenhouse gas emissions caused by internal and external business processes. The ISO 14064-1 standard was used for this purpose. ISO 14064-1 has joined the greenhouse gas protocol (GHG Protocol) in becoming established as a global standard for carbon accounting. In verifying the carbon footprint, TÜV SÜD's auditors consider all direct and indirect emissions caused by the business and logistic operations of the mail order business. This includes the production and use of advertising materials, paper consumption and operation of the data centre. The distances commuted by staff were also determined and included in the accounting, as complete and correct reporting of indirect emissions is also critical for the informative value of the carbon footprint.
Martin Leusmann, CEO of KAISER+KRAFT GmbH: "The data supply information about major polluters and draw a detailed picture of existing emissions. This permits us to identify specific measures for cutting our carbon emissions and evaluating their effectiveness. Given this, the carbon footprint as reviewed and verified by TÜV SÜD is an important milestone for us on our way to improving climate protection."
