OHSAS 18001

There are no restrictions for the introduction. Every company, which employs staff, can benefit from a well organised occupational safety programme. OHSAS 18001 additionally covers requirements for visitors and clients.

The structure complies with the well known continuous improvement process, which is part and parcel of client satisfaction and employee orientation. OHSAS 18001 therfore has the same structure as the existing management systems ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Client relations and the net product processes are the core elements of OHSAS 18001. Emphasis is placed on the safe planning and implementation of the processes. The aim is to recognise hazardous situations in advance and consequently avoid ensuing accidents. This can be achieved by including the employee to a greater extent and abolishing hierarchy within the company. This reduces absenteeism and results in the securing of the net product of the company.

Contractors and in particular internationally active companies are increasingly demanding the occupational protection system to OHSAS 18001.
