Legislators are imposing increasingly high standards on lamps and luminaires. Partnership with a reliable and flexible testing and inspection body is essential for manufacturers to ensure they meet these quality and safety requirements. TÜV SÜD Product Service tests lamps, luminaires and LED modules for their compliance with all EU and global standards. TÜV SÜD will present its range of services at Light + Building 2016, held from 13 – 18 March 2016. At the TÜV SÜD stand (Hall 4, Level 1, Stand J35), the technical service provider will showcase its range of testing and inspection options, based on a variety of measurement equipment, and its solutions that open up efficient access to global markets.
Reliable work pays off: In 2016, TÜV SÜD is celebrating its 150th anniversary. In this special year, TÜV SÜD’s Garching (Munich)-based lighting test laboratory will display methods of testing the efficiency and safety of lamps, luminaires and LED light modules and their power units at the TÜV SÜD stand. The company will exhibit an array of measurement systems, including a goniometer for measuring light sources and assessing photobiological safety as well as an endurance test rig, which performs various methods of continuous measurement of lamps and LED light modules and is used in practice for endurance and stress testing. Methods of measuring intensity loss will be demonstrated, and customers can examine various options in electronic results monitoring.
More rigorous standards of efficiency and safety for lamps, luminaires and accessories
The EU’s introduction of the Low-Voltage Directive, the Ecodesign Directive and the EMC Directive sets forth high standards of efficiency and safety for lamps, luminaires and light modules and their operating equipment, some of which are set to become even stricter in the coming years. Visitors to the TÜV SÜD stand can find out more about the challenges these new regulations will involve for dealers and manufacturers, and how reliable testing and inspection can help them to overcome these hurdles. In addition to offering certification according to all European standards and Directives, TÜV SÜD supplies a range of services for securing global market access in the field of lighting, lamps and lighting drivers, including certification in accordance with NRTL, ENEC and ENEC+, CCC, the CB scheme and Zhaga as well as testing to globally recognised standards for electromagnetic compatibility, chemical standards, energy efficiency and other performance Parameters.
