Developed by Social Accountability International (SAI), and overseen by Social Accountability Accreditation Services (SAAS), SA8000^®is a global social accountability certification standard for improving working conditions. It is based on the international workplace conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The standard addresses Child Labour, Forced Labour, Health and Safety, Freedom of Association and the Right to Collective Bargaining, Discrimination, Disciplinary Practices, Working Hours, Remuneration and Management Systems.
