Embedded Systems realized reference project "Smart Grid Roadmap" for Germany
TÜV SÜD Embedded Systems has successfully developed a Smart Grid Roadmap on behalf of TAB ("Büro für Technikfolgenabschätzung" of the German Bundestag). The goal of this project was to identify the technological prospects and options for re-structuring the electricity network in a medium/long term perspective.
Current developments in energy distribution have increased the challenges on power networks:
-liberalization of the energy market
-expansion of volatile renewable
-transition to Smart Grids
To meet these challenges and to make sure that electricity distribution works without fail, technical and regulatory optimizations of the grid are inevitable.
As a result, the Smart Grid Roadmap delivers a description of the current situation, as well as an assessment of the technological and regulatory improvements. In addition, it gives an outlook regarding the mid-/ and long term perspective and provides recommendations for the transformation and operation of future Smart Grids.
After successful completion of the roadmap, the next lighthouse project has started in December 2012: Development of communication test tools for a reliable and sustainable Smart Grid (Freistaat Bayern/ Ministry of Economy).
