Increasing digitisation is causing production facilities and critical infrastructures to become increasingly complex and vulnerable to cyber-attacks. At SPS IPC Drives, held in Nuremberg from 24 to 26 November 2015, TÜV SÜD will present its extensive portfolio of services for the automation industry, together with information about the new TÜV SÜD certification mark for Safety Elements Out of Context, SEooC, and certification according to the new 62443 standard (hall 4, stand 521).
TÜV SÜD has developed a new certificate for Safety Elements Out of Context (SEooC) for microcontrollers, which will be introduced to the public at SPS IPC Drives. In an industry characterised by increasingly short product development cycles, TÜV SÜD’s “TÜV SÜD SEooC” certification mark enables manufacturers to use pre-qualified elements in their products and thus to save development times and costs.
The new IEC 62443 standard now offers organisations the possibility to assess their control and automation systems for potential vulnerabilities and develop effective measures for protection. The standard offers an integrated approach to ensuring the IT security and integrity of systems and networks, focusing on the IT security of industrial automation and control systems (IACS) which are needed to ensure the reliable and secure operation of automated systems and infrastructures.
The IEC 62443 rests on four pillars. Pillar 1 summarises all documents that address the philosophy of the standard and its underlying terms and methods. Pillar 2 describes a management system for the IT security of control and automation systems. Pillar 3 includes the IT security requirements for Industrial Automation and Control System (IACS). The IACS is an IT system comprising several components. The technical requirements applying to these components are specified in pillar 4. Following publication of the IEC 62443 standard, TÜV SÜD is one of the first testing and inspection organisations to offer tests and certification for manufacturers according to IEC 62443-4-1 and for system integrators according to IEC 62443-2-4.
Comprehensive service portfolio for the automation industry
TÜV SÜD's multi-disciplinary teams offer comprehensive support to the manufacturers of industrial products, from chip design to certification of the finished product. The international provider of testing and certification services has been accredited for all standards relevant for functional safety and industrial IT security, such as IEC 61508, IEC 62061 and EN ISO 13849-1 and IEC 62433, and is a Notified Body for the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, Annex 4, Safety Components.
At TÜV SÜD’s stand at SPS IPC Drives, visitors can inform themselves about a host of issues including approval as per NRTL, FES, CB, the Low-Voltage Directive and ATEX. There they can also examine a certified robot made by KUKA. As a partner of SmartFactory-KL e.V., TÜV SÜD will also be represented at the stand of that technology initiative (hall 3A, stand 440), where visitors can explore a manufacturer-independent Industry 4.0 installation.
