If you attach importance to a specific trailer load when buying a pick-up, do not rely on the ratings American manufacturers indicate. In Germany, other criteria determine the permitted trailer load. Compared to here, American ratings are way too high. In this country, the TÜV SÜD expert is allowed to specify a trailer load after careful inspection in case no official specifications are available; these new specifications are significantly below the US-ratings to make sure you have safety on your side. The regular determination of a trailer load calls for considerable testing the costs of which can reach several thousands of Euros.
