Registration on your car
How to put your papers in order
If you own a car, motorbike or another vehicle, you should regularly make an appointment with a TÜV SÜD Service Centre for a roadworthiness test or emissions inspection - for your own safety. For matters related to your registration papers, the registration centre is the authority to contact in the majority of cases. In some cases, however, it is not easy to determine whether TÜV SÜD or the registration centre is your best address to go to. The outline below shows which authority is responsible in which cases. In any case, if you visit the registration centre make sure you have the following documents:
· Identity card/passport
· Vehicle title
· Proof of insurance
· Vehicle registration document
· Deregistration certificate
· Confirmation of the last roadworthiness test and exhaust emission
· EC type approval certificate
· Previous registration plates
If you ask somebody else to carry out registration on your behalf, don't forget to give them a letter of authorisation!
