It is found in various construction chemicals (e.g. paints and fillers) and technical equipment (e.g. ventilation tubes, night storage heaters). Weakly bound asbestos products are especially dangerous (e.g. sprayed asbestos, sealing strips). Artificial mineral fibres are used mainly as insulation materials.
Today, asbestos products are past contamination, negatively affecting the environment and thus our health. Airborne asbestos dust is one of the most hazardous carcinogenic substances. Artificial mineral fibres are suspected of having similar adverse health effects.
